KEF WIRELESS SPEAKERS LONG ISLAND

The reference series is really at the heart of KEF engineering, they were first introduced in the early 70s. By investing heavily in computer measurement, their engineers  wanted to manufacture the first range of speakers where each one made, was compared to the laboratory standard. The reference series was not only measured against the laboratory standard but also to the highest standards in materials and design. With a pure product from the lab, KEF also implemented all of their existing state of the art technologies, setting the bar in terms of sound reproduction. Often speakers are described as having a particular character but with KEF and especially the reference series, they we're striving to make the speakers transparent and to transport the users into the actual performance.  To accomplish this, they have a very clear strategy when  designing and engineering audiophile-grade loudspeakers and they call those the four aims:

1. Producing a very smooth and balanced frequency and directivity response, which means trying to direct the sound into the room as a single coherent source. Called uniqueu, it tries to make two drivers look like they're coming from one point in space. They are totally coherent when you measure them and when you listen to them you can't tell there are two.

 

2. KEF engineers  also want you to hear just the drivers, so that means the speakers must have complete silence from everything else. One of the ways they achieved this is using a constrained layer of damping which essentially takes any vibration in the cabinet and turns it into heat instead of sound.

 

3. They want drivers that have no character of their own, that operate "pistonically" T his would require a piston that is extremely light and extremely stiff, with no hidden resonances.

 

4. Finally, between the terminals of the speaker and the ears of the listener they did not want to lose anything. This lead to an exhausting journey of selecting the best crossover components to maximize the transmission path. Quality tuning the crossover or tuning the system is not about making it sound bright or punchy, it's more about making it disappear.

 

Part of what makes KEF unique is their holistic approach to the way they design speakers. everything from the drivers and indeed even the tools that are used to develop the drivers are developed in-house.  Each reference loudspeaker is built as a pair, by one technician where all the parts are hand-assembled and hand-polished, so when you look at the quality of the veneers, the finishing, and appreciate wonderful pieces of furniture you can be proud to own.
