LIVING ROOM THEATER
The definition of a home theater used by both the Consumer Technology Association and the National Association of Home Builders is a “minimum 42-inch display & surround sound.” Using this definition you can easily see how your living room can be called a "private cinema". But you can also see how this will not give you that local cinema experience because of lighting and other distractions interrupting your escape. If it is your only option due to budget or available space you can be confident we have worked in these environments and will exceeded your expectations. However, we do encourage you to read on and see what you may be missing.
MEDIA ROOM THEATER
A media room is definitely a step in the right direction when your looking for a great movie experience. Many define it as a multipurpose space that is outfitted with a large flat-screen television, surround sound and cozy seating. Media rooms have a lot more equipment and a more complex surround sound system. Your no longer in a living room but a very technologically advanced space that's sole purpose is to capture your senses and keep your eyes on the big screen with immersive audio. The seating is also designed to focus your attention on the story playing out all around you. These rooms will wow anyone looking to escape for a few hours.
This space is where we separate the enthusiasts from the hobbyists and there are still many different budgets for these types of rooms. But when you say "private theater" and this is what you imagined, we know you understand the difference of a dedicated room, that when you open the door, enter and close it behind you, you have truly escaped the "noise" of the outside world. These spaces are completely isolated to eliminate any outside distractions, the only light coming in is from a massive projection screen, only hearing the movie soundtrack, completely surrounded in crystal clear audio, while reclined in beautiful home cinema seating.
ELEMENTS OF A HOME THEATER
Here is a basic overview of some of the elements that may make up your immersive experience. At the very least we know your going to want a 4k HD display and surround sound system, let us know what else is on your must-have list for your own unique private cinema experience! Learn more in detail about all of the elements of a home theater here.
You should choose an enclosed dedicated space without other activities happening in the room to distract you. The room should also create a barrier for noise either coming from the surround sound system into other rooms or other outside ambient noise bleeding into the dedicated theater.
Home cinema lighting has many facets too, the main lights are usually hi-hats that are used when entering and exiting the theater. Track lighting is used between the seats to see where the aisles and stairs are while sconces and LED lighting can set the mood. Lighting scenes are essential!
After you have decided on the best home theater projector for your budget we will choose the right projection screen. The size, color, gain and other specifications are included in the science based decision process. Screens can also be fixed or motorized to disappear into the ceiling.
Seat Riser and Floor
The floor is also critical in proper design. A hard surface will reflect sound and may create an echo while carpet absorbs the sound and allows deeper bass. The floor will also need a riser platform for seating behind the front row. This obviously allows for everyone to have a clear view of the screen.
Seating is essential for comfort but does not have to break the budget. Traditional theater seating is a leather recliner with armrests on both sides. Many of our clients like to use long couches or double loveseats for the entire family to hang out on. We offer plenty of seating options.
We have a trained staff of surround sound experts to calibrate your home theater system. Speaker choice is according to the entire system budget and speaker placement is according to the amount of speakers you choose. We recommend in wall speakers for the best sound experience.
Acoustic Panel & Design
Theater walls are an essential part in eliminating outside noise and distractions. The walls will hold the speakers, sound proofing material as well as reflection and absorption panels to optimize the audio experience. The wall coverings are your choice of unlimited designs and decor.
The main ingredient for your home cinema is the projector. Projectors have become extremely inexpensive with amazing 4k technology. The projector should be equivalent to the rest of the gear in your home theater. We can help you decide which projectors are the best for your application.
The brains of your theater is everything that process's and outputs the audio and video correctly to the room. This can include a receiver or separate components like a pre-amp and amp. Other components like a cable box, surge protection and other devices should be considered as well.
